The cooking school operates out of the heritage building's rear kitchen, and the morning class (starts 08:30) includes a guided tour of Talad Kaset market before returning to cook a five-dish menu. Their pad thai and massaman are particularly well-taught.

Baan Bua Cooking School — Rawai

For expats living in the south of the island — Rawai, Nai Harn, Chalong — Baan Bua is the local favourite. Set in a traditional garden house in Rawai, classes feel more like cooking at a Thai friend's home than attending a tourist attraction. The owner, Khun Dao, has been running classes for over a decade and adapts sessions based on participants' experience and interest. Prices are 1,200–1,500 THB. The class typically covers three to four dishes and includes the freshest produce from the nearby Rawai market. If you're living in the south, this is the one to do.

Suay Cooking School — Phuket Town Area

The cooking school attached to the well-regarded Suay restaurant in Phuket Town offers a more modern take on Thai cooking — some fusion elements but grounded in solid classical technique. Classes are smaller (maximum six people) and tend to focus on Southern Thai cooking, which is distinct from the Central Thai food most tourists know. Southern Thai curries are significantly more fiery and complex, and this is a great class for anyone wanting to go deeper than pad thai. Prices around 1,800–2,200 THB including lunch.

Phuket-specific classes sometimes include local specialties: mee hokkien (Phuket's beloved Hokkien noodles, with a thick soy-based sauce quite different from the rest of Thailand), oh aew (a Phuket-only shaved ice dessert with red beans and jelly), and Phuket-style massaman with a heavier coconut milk and spice profile.
