Tip: Search "Phuket Immigration" on Google Maps — the pin is accurate. Don't confuse this with the Phuket Airport immigration counters or the Chalong sub-district office, which handles some TM30 forms but not visa services.

Opening hours and best times to go

The office opens at 8:30am Monday to Friday. In practice, you should arrive before 9:00am to get a queue number for the most popular services. Tourist visa extensions are the highest-demand service — during November to April peak season, the extension queue can reach capacity by 10:00am.

Queue times are estimates for peak season (Nov–Apr). Off-season (May–Oct) is noticeably quieter across all services. Last updated: March 2026.

Thai public holidays: The office closes for all Thai public holidays — Songkran week (mid-April), Makha Bucha, Visakha Bucha, Khao Phansa, and others. Plan your visa timeline around these dates. During Songkran (April 13–15, often extended), immigration is closed for 3–5 days.

Which counter handles which service

Phuket Immigration has numbered counters with different functions. The layout can shift slightly between years, but as of 2026 the general breakdown is:

CounterServiceNotes
Information deskQueue tickets, general questionsGet your number here first
Counter 1–2Tourist visa extensions (30-day)Highest demand — arrive early
Counter 390-day reporting (in-person)Faster — dedicated queue
Counter 4–5Non-immigrant visa extensions (Non-OA, Non-B, etc.)Documents reviewed here
Counter 6Re-entry permits (single & multiple)Quick — 20–40 min usually
Counter 7TM30 registration, change of addressRequired within 24h of moving
CashierFees paymentCash and card both accepted
Re-entry permits: If you leave Thailand on a multi-entry visa or long-stay extension without a re-entry permit, your visa is cancelled. Buy a single re-entry permit (฿1,000) before any trip, or a multiple re-entry permit (฿3,800) if you travel regularly. You can also buy these at the airport departure hall — but it's slower and more expensive.

Queue tips and things I've learned after 6 years

1

Arrive before 8:30am if it's peak season

The queue numbers for tourist extensions can run out by 10am November–February. Get there before the office opens, queue at the door, grab your number, then go for coffee next door.

2

Dress respectfully

There are dress code signs at the entrance. Shorts, sleeveless tops and flip-flops are technically prohibited. You may be turned away if dressed too casually, especially at the more formal visa extension counters.

3

Check your passport expiry

Immigration will not issue a visa extension that extends beyond your passport expiry date. If your passport expires within 6 months, renew it first — or at minimum before applying for anything longer than a 30-day tourist extension.

4

Bring a book and snacks

Wait times of 3–4 hours are realistic for peak-season tourist extensions. The waiting area has AC and seats, but it fills up. Charge your phone, bring water, and don't have urgent plans for the morning.

5

Use the afternoon for collection

For tourist extensions: submit your documents in the morning, go have lunch, and collect your passport in the afternoon (usually 1:00–3:30pm). Same-day processing is standard if you submit before noon.

6

For Non-OA: use a visa agent if anything is unclear

The Non-OA annual extension has strict document requirements. One wrong copy, wrong bank letter format, or wrong insurance document can mean rejection and a return trip. A reputable Phuket visa agent (฿2,500–4,000) handles the document prep and attends with you if needed — worth it for the stress savings.

What you can do online instead

Several immigration tasks no longer require a physical visit to the office, which can save you hours. The Thai Immigration Bureau's online portal (immigration.go.th) handles:

  • 90-day reporting — do this online, any day, any time, within 15 days before or 7 days after your due date. Takes 5 minutes. You'll receive an email confirmation. No queue, no travel, no hassle.
  • TM30 registration — landlords are required to register you within 24 hours of your arrival; you can check and self-report if they haven't.
  • Appointment booking — some services can be booked in advance via the online system to reduce wait times.

Tourist visa extensions and Non-OA annual renewals still require an in-person visit with original documents as of March 2026.

90-day reporting online: Set a calendar reminder 15 days before your 90-day due date. Go to immigration.go.th → 90-Day Notification. You'll need your passport number, TM card number, and date of last entry. If the system rejects your report (it can be temperamental), try a different browser or go in person without penalty if within the allowed window.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Phuket Immigration Office?
Phuket Immigration Office is at 351 Phuket Road, Tambon Talad Yai, Amphoe Mueang Phuket. It's on the right heading north out of Phuket Town, about 1.5km past Central Festival Phuket. There's a car park in the compound. Grab from Rawai costs roughly ฿200–280.
What are Phuket Immigration's opening hours?
Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm. Closed weekends and Thai public holidays. Some counters pause 12:00–1:00pm for lunch. Arrive before 9:00am for tourist extensions — queue numbers can run out by 10am in peak season.
Can I do my 90-day report at Phuket Immigration?
Yes — Counter 3 handles in-person 90-day reports. But the online system at immigration.go.th is much faster. You can report online any day within 15 days before or 7 days after your due date. Save yourself the trip.
How long does a tourist visa extension take?
Submit in the morning, collect in the afternoon. Allow 3–4 hours total in peak season. The actual processing is fast — most of the time is waiting for your queue number to be called.
Do I need a visa agent for Phuket Immigration?
Not for simple services like tourist extensions or 90-day reports. For Non-OA retirement visa renewals or Non-B work extensions, a good visa agent is worth the ฿2,500–4,000 fee to avoid document errors and return trips.
