It's 38 degrees. You've just got back from the beach and the last thing you want to do is drive anywhere. This is where food delivery apps become one of Phuket's genuine quality-of-life upgrades. After six years here, I can tell you that the app landscape has matured considerably — but they're not all equal, and coverage varies hugely depending on where you live on the island.

This guide covers the three main apps — Grab Food, LINE MAN (Lineman) and Foodpanda — with honest coverage maps, real 2026 delivery fees, and practical tips for ordering from Rawai to Bang Tao.

Quick Facts — Phuket Food Delivery 2026

  • Delivery fees: 15–60 THB depending on distance and platform
  • Minimum order: 100–200 THB (varies by restaurant)
  • Typical delivery time: 25–50 minutes (longer in rain or peak hours)
  • Best app overall: Grab Food (widest selection, most reliable)
  • Best for local Thai food: LINE MAN (Lineman)
  • Best coverage areas: Phuket Town, Bang Tao/Cherng Talay, Kata/Karon
  • Payment: All apps accept Thai bank cards; Grab also accepts Visa/Mastercard

Grab Food Phuket: The Default Choice

Grab Food is the most used delivery app among Phuket expats, and for good reason: it has the biggest restaurant network, the most consistent delivery times and it works across the whole island (coverage isn't equal everywhere, but it's the best you'll get).

Coverage and Restaurant Selection

Grab covers all major expat areas: Bang Tao, Cherng Talay, Kamala, Patong, Kata, Karon, Rawai, Chalong and Phuket Town. You'll find Western restaurants, Thai food, Japanese, Indian, healthy bowls, sushi, pizza — the full range. Bang Tao and Phuket Town have the strongest selection; Rawai and Nai Harn are solid but thinner.

Grab Food Pricing in Phuket

Delivery fees are typically 15–35 THB for restaurants within 3 km, rising to 40–60 THB beyond 5 km. There's a small service fee of around 5–15 THB per order. Surge pricing kicks in during peak hours (12–14:00, 18–20:00) and heavy rain, when fees can jump to 70–90 THB and wait times stretch to 60 minutes. Grab runs regular promotions — free delivery codes, percentage discounts — so check the promo section before ordering.

Payment Methods

Grab accepts Thai bank cards (linked via PromptPay), Grab credits (top-up), Visa and Mastercard. For new expats without a Thai bank account yet, using an international card via Grab is often the easiest option. Opening a Thai bank account in Phuket is simpler than it sounds and unlocks cheaper payment methods across all apps.

Insider Tip: Grab Food frequently offers "Free Delivery" codes through its app notifications and LINE official account. Enable notifications and you'll save 20–30 THB on most orders. Also check GrabRewards points — they accumulate quickly if you order regularly and can be redeemed for discounts.

LINE MAN (Lineman): Best for Local Thai Food

LINE MAN is Thailand's homegrown alternative, integrated into the LINE messaging app which virtually every Thai person uses. For local Thai food — street stalls, noodle shops, papaya salad spots — Lineman often has restaurants that aren't on Grab at all. The app is in Thai by default but there's an English option.

Why Lineman Can Be Better for Thai Food

Many small Thai restaurants in Phuket Town, Chalong and Rawai joined Lineman before Grab because the commission rates were lower. This means you'll find authentic local spots on Lineman that never made it onto Grab. If you're craving a specific bowl of boat noodles from a shop near Chalong Circle, Lineman is often where to find it.

Lineman Pricing vs Grab

Lineman's delivery fees are comparable to Grab — 15–40 THB is typical. For the same restaurant listed on both apps, prices are usually identical (restaurants set their own prices). However, some restaurants give slight discounts on Lineman due to lower platform fees being passed on. Worth comparing before you order.

Lineman Coverage in Phuket

Coverage is solid in central Phuket — Phuket Town, Kathu, Chalong, Kata/Karon. Bang Tao and Kamala are covered but the selection skews more Thai. Rawai coverage has improved significantly in 2025–2026. Nai Harn can be hit or miss — you'll find fewer options than on Grab.

Foodpanda Phuket: Third Choice

Foodpanda operates in Phuket but it's a distant third compared to the competition. The restaurant selection in Phuket is noticeably thinner than in Bangkok or Chiang Mai. Some Western chain restaurants list on Foodpanda exclusively for brief promotional periods, but for day-to-day ordering, most expats here default to Grab or Lineman.

That said, Foodpanda does run competitive promotions and sometimes has exclusive restaurant partnerships. It's worth downloading and checking occasionally — you might find a restaurant that's not on the other apps, or catch a discount that makes it worthwhile.

Delivery Coverage by Phuket Area

Bang Tao & Laguna / Cherng Talay

Excellent coverage on all three apps. The highest concentration of Western restaurants on the island are here — European cafés, Japanese sushi, health food spots, pizza. Grab Food has the best selection. Delivery times are typically 25–40 minutes. The Boat Avenue and Laguna Road restaurant clusters are well-served.

Phuket Town

Phuket Town is a goldmine for food delivery, especially for authentic Thai and Chinese cuisine. Both Grab and Lineman are strong here. You'll find local noodle soups, dim sum, moo ping (grilled pork skewers), fresh seafood restaurants and more. Delivery fees are lower due to short distances. This is where Lineman really shines — connecting you to small street-food operators who don't have physical signage but cook incredible food.

Kata / Karon

Good coverage on Grab, moderate on Lineman. The tourist-oriented restaurant scene here means plenty of Western food available. Delivery to villa complexes in the hills above Kata can be slow (35–55 minutes) due to steep roads and distance from restaurants. Always enter your PIN clearly on Grab — drivers sometimes struggle with hillside addresses.

Rawai & Nai Harn

Improving year by year. Grab Food now covers most of Rawai well — the restaurant selection is smaller than Bang Tao but includes everything from Thai to Indian to healthy bowls. Nai Harn has decent coverage but you're working with fewer restaurants. Plan ahead during peak rainy season months when drivers are scarce and delivery times spike.

Kamala & Surin

Kamala has grown significantly as an expat hub and delivery coverage reflects this. Grab covers the main Kamala beach road and most villa areas well. Surin is similar. The selection is solid with a good mix of Thai and Western options. Expect 30–45 minute delivery times.

Chalong

Chalong is well-served and benefits from proximity to Phuket Town's restaurant cluster. Grab and Lineman both work reliably here. If you live near the Chalong roundabout, you have some of the fastest delivery times on the island.

Insider Tip: During monsoon season (May–October), rain can double your delivery time and trigger surge fees. Order early — by 11:30 for lunch and 17:30 for dinner — to get ahead of the rain-induced rush. Drivers on motorbikes genuinely struggle in Phuket's tropical downpours.

Practical Tips for Ordering Food in Phuket

Address Entry

This is the biggest challenge for new expats. Phuket's addressing system is inconsistent — many villas and condos don't have clear street addresses. Use the pin-drop function in Grab or Lineman and place the pin precisely on your building. Add detailed notes: "Green gate, second villa from the corner on Soi X, call on arrival." Drivers appreciate it and your food arrives faster.

Phone Number

Get a Thai SIM card as soon as you arrive. Drivers will call to confirm delivery locations and without a Thai number, ordering from some restaurants is complicated. A Thai SIM costs 49–99 THB from any 7-Eleven and is worth having regardless of delivery apps. See our guide to Thai SIM cards and mobile data in Phuket.

Language

Grab's interface is fully in English. Lineman defaults to Thai but switch to English in settings. When drivers call and don't speak English, the common phrase that works is "same pin na krap/ka" — meaning "it's the same as the pin" — and most will understand to follow the GPS.

Rating and Tips

Always rate your delivery. Grab drivers depend on ratings for their standing on the platform. Tipping is appreciated but optional — 10–20 THB cash tip for a long delivery or during bad weather is a kind gesture. Don't tip via the app (it rarely reaches the driver properly); cash is better.

Meal Prep Delivery

Several Phuket-based meal prep services operate outside the main apps — they deliver directly via LINE or WhatsApp. Search Facebook groups like "Phuket Expats" for current recommendations. These services are popular among health-conscious expats who want macro-controlled meals delivered weekly. Costs run 150–250 THB per meal, cheaper than restaurant delivery and more nutritionally controlled. See our guide to nutritionists and dietitians in Phuket if you want dietary support alongside meal delivery.

Moving Money for Food and Everything Else

Topping up Grab credits or paying delivery fees is easiest with a Thai bank account or a multi-currency card. Wise makes it simple to spend from your home currency at real exchange rates — no hidden fees. Thousands of Phuket expats use it for day-to-day spending.

Grocery Delivery in Phuket

Food delivery apps also handle grocery delivery — not just restaurant food. Grab Mart delivers from Villa Market (Bang Tao), Makro and selected convenience stores. Lineman connects to local fresh markets in some areas. Expect 45–90 minutes for grocery delivery (longer than restaurant orders) and a slightly higher delivery fee.

Tops Online and Villa Market's own delivery service are worth considering for full grocery shops. They allow advance booking (the night before) and deliver in designated windows, which is more reliable for larger orders. See our full guide to grocery shopping and cost of living in Phuket for supermarket comparisons.

FAQ: Food Delivery in Phuket

Which food delivery app is best in Phuket?
Grab Food has the widest restaurant selection and most reliable delivery times across Phuket. Lineman is strong in Thai street food and often cheaper for local restaurants. Does Grab Food deliver to Rawai and Nai Harn?
Yes, Grab Food delivers to Rawai and Nai Harn, but the restaurant selection is smaller than Bang Tao or Phuket Town. Expect 30–50 minute delivery times. Some restaurants in Chalong cover Rawai. Lineman sometimes has better local Thai restaurant coverage in the south of the island.

Can I use food delivery apps in Bang Tao and Laguna?
