Phuket Expat Facebook Groups & Community

Part of our complete Phuket Lifestyle Guide

Every group a Phuket expat needs — housing, social, sports, business, women's networks and area-specific communities

Last updated: March 2026 ~10 min read

The Phuket expat community is large, active and genuinely helpful. Facebook is still the primary platform — WhatsApp groups and LINE groups exist but are more closed. Get into the main Facebook groups on day one. I've found housing, got visa advice, hired contractors, and made friends through them. Here's the complete list.

💡 Facebook group etiquette: Search before you post — most questions (visa requirements, best pizza restaurants, doctor recommendations) have been answered hundreds of times. Use the group search function. You'll get a better response and won't irritate veteran members. For visa questions specifically, answers change — check for posts from the last 3 months only.
Beyond Facebook

Other Community Resources

WhatsApp & LINE Groups

There are hundreds of WhatsApp and LINE groups for Phuket expats — area-specific, sport-specific, school-specific, nationality-specific. These are mostly invitation-only but you'll get added to relevant ones once you're in the island's social fabric. Your area's Facebook group is usually the gateway into local WhatsApp communities.

Meetup.com & Events

Phuket has an active events scene beyond Facebook: regular expat socials at Rawai, beach club events in Surin and Bang Tao, language exchange events in Phuket Town (Bookhemian), Timber Hut pub quiz nights on Yaowarat Road, and the monthly Hash events. Follow the Phuket Expats Facebook group events section for what's on.

Nationality-Specific Communities

There are active communities for British, Australian, American, Scandinavian, German, French, Russian, and Chinese expats in Phuket — each with their own Facebook groups, WhatsApp communities, and regular social events. Search for "[your nationality] Phuket" on Facebook.

What is the best Facebook group for Phuket expats?
'Phuket Expats' (80,000+ members) is the primary hub — active daily, covers everything. Join this first, then add area-specific groups based on where you live (Rawai Expats for south Phuket, Bangthao & Laguna Residents for the north-west).
Is there a Facebook group for housing rentals in Phuket?
Yes — 'Phuket Real Estate & Rentals' and 'Phuket Housing Rentals' are the main ones, plus area groups like Rawai Expats. Many of the best rentals in Phuket never hit property websites — they circulate in Facebook groups direct from landlords. Join the housing groups immediately when starting your search.
Are there groups for women expats in Phuket?
'Phuket Expat Women' is the main active group — social events, recommendations, safety tips and support. 'Mums in Phuket' for parents. 'Conscious Women Phuket' for wellness-focused community. All are active and welcoming.
How do I meet other remote workers in Phuket?
Search 'Phuket Digital Nomads' and 'Remote Workers Phuket' on Facebook. Hubba Phuket coworking space (Chalong) hosts regular events. Yellow coworking (Nai Yang) has a community feel. The KBank Work Café in Central Festival is also a great place to meet people organically.
