Bangkok Hospital Phuket direct (English, 24h): 076-254-425

After six years living in Phuket, I've learned that emergencies don't announce themselves politely. The motorbike comes off the road at midnight, the chest pain starts on a Sunday, the passport disappears on arrival day. What determines the outcome is often whether you have the right number already saved in your phone.

This page collects every emergency and important contact number you might need in Phuket — police stations by area, hospitals, embassy hotlines, utilities, mental health support, and more. Bookmark it. Screenshot the core numbers section. Email it to yourself.

Phuket Police Stations by Area

Phuket is divided into three main districts (Mueang, Kathu, Thalang) plus Phuket City. Knowing which station covers your area speeds up response and report-filing. For any serious incident, always obtain a police report before leaving the station — you'll need it for insurance claims.

📋 Always Get a Police Report

Whether it's a stolen phone, motorbike accident, or assault — file a report at the station immediately. Insurance companies, embassies, and card providers all require an official Phuket police report. Bring your passport. Reports are issued same-day for most incidents.

Hospitals — Emergency Contacts

Phuket has three main hospital categories: international private (Bangkok Hospital, Siriroj Private Wing), government (Vachira Phuket, Patong Hospital), and specialist. For serious emergencies, Bangkok Hospital Phuket has the most complete international-standard trauma and ICU capabilities on the island. For less serious matters on a budget, Vachira Phuket Hospital offers genuine quality at significantly lower cost.

See our complete Phuket healthcare guide for hospital comparisons, costs, and which hospital is best for different situations.

💡 Health Insurance Emergency Line

Save your health insurance provider's 24-hour emergency number separately from your policy documents. In a real emergency you need to call them before or alongside going to hospital — they can arrange direct billing with Bangkok Hospital Phuket and authorise evacuations. If you don't yet have cover, our health insurance guide explains what to look for in Phuket.

Embassy & Consular Emergency Lines

Most embassies are in Bangkok, but all major ones have 24-hour emergency lines for citizens in distress — arrests, serious accidents, deaths, passport emergencies. These lines are specifically for emergencies outside office hours; regular visa enquiries should go through normal embassy channels.

Mental Health & Crisis Support

Phuket's expat experience is enriching but not without its hard moments — isolation, relationship strain, business pressures, grief far from family. These services exist:

What to Do in Phuket's Most Common Emergencies

Motorbike Accident

Call 191 immediately. Photograph the scene, the other vehicle, and any injuries before moving anything if it's safe to do so. Exchange details with other parties. Do not accept cash settlements at the roadside — go to Chalong Police (076-381-028) for accidents in the south, Kathu Police (076-311-015) for the west coast, Thalang Police (076-311-025) for the north. Get a police report: your insurance claim requires it.

Medical Emergency

Dial 1669 for ambulance or go directly to Bangkok Hospital Phuket (076-254-425) which has the fastest and most capable international A&E. Call your health insurance emergency line at the same time — they need to authorise treatment and can arrange direct billing. Don't go to Patong Hospital for serious emergencies; get to Phuket Town.

Theft or Robbery

Call Tourist Police (1155) first — they speak English and can dispatch the nearest officer. Then go in person to file a report at your nearest station. Keep your police report reference number for insurance, bank, and embassy procedures. For credit card theft, contact your bank immediately to block the card — many Thai bank apps have one-tap card blocking.

Tsunami Warning

Don't wait for instructions — move inland and uphill immediately when you hear the beach warning sirens. The beach warning towers on Patong, Kamala, Kata, Karon, Surin, and Bang Tao beaches all test their sirens at noon on the 26th of each month. Know what they sound like. Your nearest elevated ground in Rawai is the hills behind Nai Harn lake; in Patong, move to Patong Hill Road immediately.
