The first time I queued at Phuket Immigration for a Non-B extension, I turned up with what I thought was a complete document package. The officer looked at my company documents and pointed to a date stamp. My DBD certificate was 4 months old — they require it within 3 months, freshly certified. I was sent away, had to get new documents from Bangkok, and came back a week later. Lesson learned, expensively.
Non-B visa extensions in Phuket are entirely manageable once you know the process — but the document requirements are exacting and the Phuket Immigration office has its own rhythms and quirks. This guide is based on multiple successful extensions and the accumulated wisdom of the Phuket expat business community.

Step-by-Step: Non-B Extension at Phuket Immigration
Prepare documents 2–3 weeks before expiry
Collect and verify all documents. Check dates — DBD certificate must be within 3 months. Request updated documents from your company secretary or accountant. Get photos taken (4x6cm white background).
Complete TM 7 form
Download TM 7 (Application for Temporary Stay Extension) from the Thai Immigration website or collect a paper copy at the office. Complete in English, black pen, no correction fluid. Have your accountant or visa agent check it if unsure.
Arrive early — queue numbers from 08:30
Phuket Immigration is busy. Arrive by 08:00 to be in the first queue group. Numbers are distributed at the entrance. Non-immigrant extensions typically use a separate queue from tourist visa extensions — ask the counter staff for the right queue.
Submit at the window
When your number is called, present the full document package. The officer may ask questions about your role, salary, or company activities. Answer clearly and briefly. They may request any missing documents before accepting.
Pay 1,900 THB at the cashier
After submission is accepted, you're directed to the cashier to pay the extension fee. Cash preferred — bring 2,000 THB to be safe. Get your payment receipt.
Collect passport (same day or following day)
Straightforward cases: passport returned same afternoon. Complex cases or officer not available: you're given a collection date, usually 1–3 working days. Never overstay your current stamp while waiting — the new stamp takes effect from the current expiry date.

The 3-month freshness requirement on DBD documents catches many expats out. DBD certification is obtained from the Department of Business Development (DBD) either at their Phuket office or online at dbd.go.th. Allow 2–5 working days for certification. If your accountant handles your company, they should obtain fresh certifications at least 2 weeks before your extension date.
Using a Visa Agent for Your Non-B Extension in Phuket
Many Phuket expat business owners — even those who've been here for years — use a visa agent for Non-B extensions. The reasons are practical rather than lack of understanding: queue times at Phuket Immigration can run 3–5 hours for self-submitters, and any document issue means a second trip. An agent handles the queue, checks documents before submission, and often has an established relationship with the officers.
What Phuket Visa Agents Charge for Non-B Extensions
- Basic extension service (you provide all documents): 3,000–4,500 THB (plus government 1,900 THB)
- Full service (agent obtains DBD docs, verifies everything): 5,000–8,000 THB (plus government fee)
- Premium same-day guarantee service: 8,000–12,000 THB
Recommended Visa Agents in Phuket
Several established visa agents operate in Phuket with solid track records. Most are clustered around Phuket Town near the Immigration office or on the major expat strips in Rawai, Kata, and Bang Tao. Ask for referrals from other expat business owners — the Phuket Expat Business Network Facebook group and Rawai and Bang Tao expat groups are good sources.
If you use a visa agent, give them your documents at least 5 working days before your extension date. Good agents check everything thoroughly and may identify issues (expired DBD cert, missing document) that would require you to run around gathering replacements. The day before your extension is too late for surprises.

Find a Phuket Visa Agent →The 90-Day Reporting Requirement
On a Non-B extension, you must report your current address to Immigration every 90 days. This is separate from your annual visa extension. Failing to report results in a 2,000 THB fine. Options for 90-day reporting in Phuket:
- In person at Phuket Immigration — arrive early, takes 30–60 minutes if not busy
- Online via the Thai Immigration e-Service portal (imm.immigration.go.th) — works about 70% of the time; submit 15 days before due date to allow time to try again if the portal fails
- By registered mail — submit TM 47 form with copies by registered post, arriving at Immigration before the due date
- Via visa agent — most Phuket visa agents offer 90-day report service for 500–1,500 THB
What Happens If You Overstay Your Non-B
If your Non-B stamp expires and you haven't extended or departed, you are overstaying. The fine is 500 THB per day of overstay, capped at 20,000 THB. Overstay of more than 90 days results in a 1-year ban on re-entry; more than 1 year results in a 3-year ban; more than 3 years results in a 10-year ban. These bans are serious and difficult to challenge.
If your visa extension is pending with Immigration (you've submitted documents but haven't collected your passport yet), you are NOT overstaying — you have an ongoing application. But you also cannot leave Thailand until you collect your passport with the new stamp. Keep your document submission receipt in case you need to prove pending status.
